Shorter Mansion, the home of
the Eufaula Heritage Association and The Eufaula
Pilgrimage
Eufaula’s Historic
District, with over 700 structures listed in the National
Register of Historic Places, reflects the city’s rich
history and splendid architecture. Eufaula was rich enough
in the nineteenth century to establish its cultural
identity and poor enough in the twentieth to retain it.
Eleven historic homes, built in the days when "cotton was
king", will be open to visitors during this annual,
nostalgic, return to the Old South. These ante-bellum and
Victorian mansions built by 19th century planters and
merchants still house precious family heirlooms of a bygone
era. Seven of the homes will be open during the day and
four will be open in the evening for a candlelight tour.
Tickets
Individual tickets are on
sale at the door of all of the homes on the tour. Several
tickets packages are available at the ticket office located
in the First Presbyterian Church. The ticket packages
feature various combinations of the seven daytime homes,
four candlelight homes, four garden tours, wine and cheese
tasting and the antique show.
